The Yankees capture the last three games to win their 10th World Series title. Spud Chandler wins two games for the Yankees, including a 2-0 shutout in Game 5 at Sportsman's Park. Key hits for the Yankees include Billy Johnson's three-run triple in Game 3 and Bill Dickey's two-run homer in Game 5. Mort Cooper's complete game in Game 2 gives St. Louis its only win.

This is the first World Series film ever produced by Major League Baseball. The DVD also includes rare news footage of the first three games of the Series at Yankee Stadium and 1953 interviews with Walker Cooper and Johnny Lindell.

1945 World Series

This film includes the highlights of all seven games between the Tigers and Cubs plus bonus footage. War-time travel restrictions were still in effect so the first three games were played at Briggs Stadium in Detroit. The Tigers were led by AL MVP Hal Newhouser, who won two games, and Hank Greenberg, who had seven hits, including two homers and three doubles. The Cubs were led by Phil Cavarretta, who batted .432. Included on the DVD are interviews with Cavaretta, Newhouser, Virgil Trucks and Paul Richards eight years after the Series.

There is also a segment on the 1939 Cubs at spring training at California's Catalina Island. B&W. 76 min.

This high definition DVD includes the official World Series highlight film as well as two other films on the 1946 World Series, one on the 1946 All-Star Game at Fenway Park and vintage interviews with Johnny Pesky, Harry Brecheen and Stan Musial. The World Series features two of the game's greatest hitters, Musial and Ted Williams, but the stars are Brecheen and Harry Walker for the Cardinals and Bobby Doerr and Rudy York for the Red Sox.

Game 7 will be remembered for Enos Slaughter's mad dash from first base to score the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. The All-Star Game features two Williams homers, including one off Rip Sewell's "Blooper Pitch", in the American League's 12-0 win.

The Reds tied the game with three runs in the fifth and added two in the seventh and one in the eighth to take a 6-3 lead. Pinch-hitter Bernie Carbo tied the game with a dramatic three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth.
